Shirley Slowly

I'm supposed to be adding the voice part to the new directions for our blogging class, but I'm not. I just finished looking over the new crop of blogs that are sprouting from Davis teachers taking my online Blog class. They are wonderful. They mostly serve as newsletters for parents to read, but they are becoming little gems. So what does this have to do with the title? ... well, there's a story from my past that I love. It's from the part of my life that is BK, Before Kids, when we spent a couple of weeks on Squam Lake in a big old Camp-House with lots of friends. One of them was Joe Bag-O-Donuts, a cousin of my best friend Tricia. One night, while counting stars on the dock, we all asked him about the name he called himself. Well, he said, I decided I wanted to pick a name that really suited me and Joe Bag-O-Donuts seemed like it. And it really was him. He was fun to be around, never nasty, an all-round kind of treat. I spent a long time thinking what my name would be, and finally it just came to me, and has stayed in my head for many years now. (my oldest son turned 25 last summer). Yup, when I get frustrated, stressed, and overwhelmed, I talk to Shirley Slowly and she helps me out.

Shirley Slowly that sounds so lovely. I still feel like I’m whirling from one thing to another. Thank you for the the picture of Cattail Corner. So soothing!
